The Facts

  • The project is given the green light and ALW begins working on the score (Confirmed; ALW.com video blog, March 2007)

 

  • The musical will be loosely based on the novel "Phantom Of Manhattan" by Frederick Forsyth with some minor changes in that Erik will no longer be a designer of attractions for a theme park, but will instead be the owner of a theatre within New York and will be in the process of writting an opera to lure the happily married Christine from the safety of Raoul's arms once again.   • The name of the show is Phantom- Love Never Dies (Confirmed; ALW's 60th Birthday Concert in Hyde Park, 14th of September 2008)

  • The first draft of Act 1 has been completed. Sydmonton played host to it's premier during his annual Sydmonton Festival. Current London Phantom, Ramin Karimloo, played the title role. (Cofirmed; phantomoftheopera.com, July 2008)

 

  • The production is set to open on London's West End in November 2009 (Confirmed; Various sources.)

 

  • The production's opening date was changed. It is now set to open in London's West End on March 9th 2010. Previews will begin on Febuary 20th 2010. (Confirmed; loveneverdies.com Oct. 2009)

 

  • The production will open on Broadway on Novemeber 11th 2010, then in Australia sometime during 2011 (Confirmed; loveneverdies.com, Oct. 2009)
